The most disruptive era in the history of IT

Right now, you may be raising your eyebrows in disbelief at Gartner’s prediction that smart machines will soon be able to understand their environment, learn for themselves and act autonomously. But maybe you shouldn’t be so sceptical.

The information technology research and advisory company has stated that ‘deep analytics applied to an understanding of context provides the preconditions for a world of smart machines’ in its 2015 technology trends predictions. Now while some tech-reluctant naysayers may feel like smart machines are a threat to their job stability, they are in fact a step toward an even more technologically convenient future.

Some variations of smart machines already exist, such as prototype autonomous vehicles, advanced robots, virtual personal assistants and smart advisors and these will rapidly evolve, ushering in a new age of machine helpers. According to Gartner the smart machine era will be the most disruptive in the history of IT.

Now tie all of this to the Internet of Everything (IoT), wearable devices and the fact that there are already an estimated 6 billion devices in the hands of users at present, and you can truly say that IT is becoming the true game changer it always stated it was. But where do you fit into this all? Have you developed a digital, mobile first approach to your own business and if not why not?

In order to ride this wave you need to be part of it.
