Westcon Southern Africa Summary Report reflecting initiatives from March 2014 to date
- JB Marks: Westcon in partnership with MIC contributes annually to the JB Marks Education Trust Fund that funds bursary recipients who are dependents of the workers within the mining, construction and energy industries. These individuals come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Streetwise Challenge forms part of an ongoing programme sponsored by Westcon Southern Africa. The program is running for three consecutive years and focuses on supplying disadvantaged schools with mini laptops. We have focused on supporting two schools: AM Lambede Primary School and Yakhisizwe Secondary School. The support has contributed significantly in the upliftment of the communities and skills development within this area and country at large.
- Schooling Assistance: Westcon also supports the minors of staff that they employ by providing bursaries for primary, secondary and tertiary education. Terms and conditions apply. This programme assists the qualifying employees and also contributes to us being an “Employer of Choice”
- Westcon in partnership with MIC have provided 30 desktops to equip a computer lab of a school in Kliptown (Soweto). This is one of the very few government funded schools to have a Computer Lab that allows learners at an early age to take up computer related studies. This once again contributes to the upliftment of the school, the community as well as increasing the skills of previously disadvantaged individuals within the IT industry.
